Last week Square Enix released a brainteaser that promised to reveal important information concerning their much-anticipated RPG epic, Final Fantasy XIII. The answer to the puzzle, which was the anagram “A Henchmen Inventor Tent Unto”, was announced, as promised, this past Monday – “Announcement Nov Thirteenth”. But, of course, clever Square fans had already figured it out. Just like they had already figured out that the announcement would be the long awaited North American release date.
As expected, yesterday, Friday the 13th (spooky!), Square released a new trailer on their Final Fantasy XIII website and PlayStation Home. The trailer (which you can see for yourself below) features some gameplay clips, as well as interview segments with some of the games creators, including Producer Yoshinori Kitase. The big news came at the end when the North American and European release date was revealed: March 9, 2010.
So be sure to mark your calendars; the chocobos are back this Spring.
Okay, I just got done watching (if that indeed would be the correct term for it) the newest trailer for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and… wow!
Seriously. I don’t know what else to say but “wow”.
No, we can’t embed the video here. You’ll have to go watch it at its home on GameTrailers, but trust us, it’s worth it.
What are you still doing here? Seriously – go watch it already!
We’ve heard about the “vertical cover” sci-fi shooter, Dark Void, for a little while now, but it had a chance to be on serious display at Captivate 2009. You want Dark Void info? How is this for you: in this post, we’re giving you the first movie-style trailer and a batch of screenshots. Then, check the next one for even more Void-ery!
The jetpack-blasting action comes courtesy of Airtight Games, featuring the crew who worked on the acclaimed Crimson Skies, so it seems like the aerial combat is in good, safe hands. Still, the trailer would have been nicer if it had the “In A World…” voiceover action going. Yeah, I know that guy died, but come on! It would have worked perfectly!
Still not yet sold on Radical Entertainment’s upcoming super-powered sandbox title, Prototype? Well, in today’s economy, nobody can fault you for being a cautious shopper. Still, if the idea of Crackdown mixed with Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction alone isn’t enough to get you opening your wallets, this new trailer has ten ways to try and pique your interest.
Prototype is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this June.
Peanut butter & Jelly. Lennon & McCartney. Moose & Squirrel. Lombax & Robot. Some things are just meant to go together.
Insomniac Games has announced the release of the climax to the R&C Future story arc that began with Tools of Destruction and continued with the downloadable Quest for Booty. Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time is due to hit sometime this fall for PlayStation 3. To get your salivary glands queued up, here’s a little teaser trailer action for you.
As we mentioned in our post on Satoru Iwata’s keynote speech this morning at GDC, a new Zelda title was announced. However, we would be pretty willing to bet cash money on the fact that nobody saw this one coming at all.
Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is due later this year on Nintendo DS. The title keeps the “map on the top screen, action on the bottom” style of Link’s last DS outing, Phantom Hourglass, but casts him in the role of…train conductor? Well, admittedly, it’s a train with a cannon mounted on it so I guess that makes it a bit more interesting.
Okay, when I first heard they were doing a remake of Punch-Out!!, my thoughts were a bit of a mixed bag – I wanted to see a sequel/remake of the classic that ate up so many hours of my childhood, but I was worried they would toe the line too closely and just deliver a prettied-up remake of the exact same game (sans Mike Tyson). This trailer has done nothing to assuage my fears, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look pretty!
My biggest concern is that the returning fighters will have the exact same patterns they had in the old game; if they do, I worry it may be far too easy. But beyond that, look at it! He’s knocking croissants out of Glass Joe’s face – croissants!!
When we posted a week ago that Castle Crashers devs, The Behemoth, would be dropping a trailer for their upcoming title on March 18th, we weren’t expecting them to get all sneaky on us.
“I guess when we said that we would release the trailer on the 18th we didn’t really elaborate in which part of the country we would be in at the time. So here it is, our super early trailer for our third game which currently has no title.”
Sounds good to us – we always like getting stuff early. Take a look for yourselves.
Pretty epic stuff, though that may just be the music sweeping us up in the tragedy of that little tearful guy and his huge emerald. At least, we’re going to assume it’s a tragedy from what we’ve seen thus far; he’s exuding pathos.
The game (which I think we can now safely call a co-op platformer) is still going by the working title of “Game #3″. Platforms and dates have yet to be announced.
