Bio: I’ve been playing video games my entire life. From the time I was tall enough to see the screens of the arcade cabinets at the dawn of the 1980s to the high-def powerhouses and motion controls of three decades later, I’ve always been most at home with a controller in my hand and buttons under my fingertips.

Unlike most young geeks, I harbored no delusions about making video games for a living; I hate math and programming and I can’t create any form of visual art to save my life. I always assumed that, if I ever did end up on the production side of the fence,  it would most likely be scoring and composing music, but it was never an idea I seriously considered. No, much closer to my heart lay the people who got paid to write about what I loved: the editors and writers behind my favorite magazines and (much later on) websites.

At the beginning of 2009, I already had a few nascent ideas drifting, half formed, around my head. When the news came down on January 6th that Ziff Davis had sold off 1up.com, the majority of the staff had been let go and EGM (a staple of my formative gaming years) was being shut down, it hit me like the death of family. But while I mourned, I also watched in amazement as new projects rose from the ashes that very same night. This inspiration fired my imagination and the wheels began to turn faster in my head. After all, if they could do it, why couldn’t I? The time to act was now, while I was still young enough to be blindly optimistic enough to think it could actually work.

A month and a half later, Crush! Frag! Destroy! launched on Feb 22nd, 2009. Thanks for joining me on this ride.
