Those who have booted up Valve’s Steam service in the last couple of days may have noticed a rather random update for 2007’s masterpiece Portal.
Shacknews has done some substantial digging and their findings may just point to an upcoming announcement to Portal 2. The patch added a new achievement that unlocks when the player places the radio on the red button during the first level of the game. After unlocking the “Transmission Received” achievement, the radio will disperse a stream of Morse code.
Since 2005, Atlus’ Trauma Center series has delivered a steady stream of fast-paced, interactive surgery action. After four games based solely on that concept, though, Atlus has decided to shake things up a bit. Instead of focusing strictly on the surgical portion of a medical case, Trauma Team will give you the opportunity to play as characters from six different fields of medicine: First Response, Diagnostics, Forensics, Surgery, Endoscopy, and Orthopedics.
One of goals of Trauma Team is to expand the scope of the previous games, and a clear indication of that intention is the diagnostics mode. We recently had a chance to take in a live demonstration of some of the diagnostics gameplay. Read on for the description.
It’s been a busy week of news and media coming out of Sega regarding the impending release of Yakuza 3 in the West. We have a new trailer (which you can see above) showing you around some of the scenic locations you’ll explore in the game, such as the serene Okinawa seaside (for a round of baseball with the kids), the streets of downtown Tokyo (to hit up a karaoke bar, perhaps?), and… erm… your local convenience store? Well, to be fair, we should already be used to that last one from previous titles in the series.
One destination to scratch off your list of tourist attractions, however, will be the original game’s hostess clubs. For an explanation why (and some new screens to go along with the trailer), hit the jump.
While the rest of the gaming populous is focused on the aptly named “ApocalyPS3,” there’s actually some news today.
Last year’s critically acclaimed strategy game, Tropico 3, is getting the expansion pack treatment.
Titled Tropico 3: Absolute Power, the newest installment of the series will add 10 new missions, a new map, and 10 additional islands for sandbox mode along with a plethora of other new tweaks. Details from the press release are under the jump.
Alpha Protocol, Obsidian’s super-spy RPG, went through some serious last minute reassignment in late 2009. Originally scheduled for October, it got shuttled off to some new top secret assignment less than a month before it was due to deploy, leading some to wonder if it wasn’t quite as ready for the field as we’d been led to believe.
Well, last week Sega finally declassified some new documents surrounding the game, including a new trailer, batch of screenshots and a (hopefully) finalized release date. You can view the trailer above. Hit the jump for the screens and dates.
Do you own BioShock 2? Do you plan to own it? Are you hoping for more content now that you’ve completed the single player game and/or have lost most of your evenings in the multiplayer? Well then, as my good friend (read: idol that I like to stalk on the weekends) Professor Hubert Farnsworth is fond of saying: “Good news, everyone!”
The first snippets of 2K Games’ DLC agenda have just been revealed, and I’d be shocked if it didn’t make their fans ecstatic. Their first DLC, titled the “Sinclair Solutions Test Pack”, will be available in March and comes with a plethora of multiplayer additions.
Dune buggies with guns, helicopters blowing stuff up and golden pre-order armor – is there truly anything better in life?
Assuming that there isn’t, the Agents in Crackdown 2’s base of Pacific City must be happy as pigs in slop right about now. That is, if these new screenshots from X10 are to be believed.
Oh sure, you have to deal with the occasional pustule-covered, gargantuan zombie-thing that wants to pound you into a fine paste, but you have to take the occasional annoyance to make up for such awesome perks, right?
Hit the jump to see the all those wonderful toys in glorious (still frame) action!
For the last chunk of Alan Wake-y goodness out of Microsoft’s X10 press event we present you with a brand-new trailer and a heaping of new screenshots, replete with forests, flashlights and… probably other things beginning with “F” as well that we can’t think of at the moment.
Nothing much else to really say here, is there? The five year wait for this game is almost over (unless you’re on PC… ouch), so all we can do is watch the calender for now.
Aspiring Spartans got some good news coming out of Microsoft’s X10 press event – the multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach is coming soon. Well, soon-ish, I suppose. Where does two and a half months fit into the general scheme of “soon”?
May 3rd is the date in question for the diehard faithful to begin suiting up and blowing the living hell out of each other to stress-test Bungie’s servers. The only catch is that you’ll require a copy of Halo 3: ODST to access the beta, though I think there are probably very few Halo fans out there who don’t already own a copy. If you don’t, however, consider yourself on notice; you’re running out of time.
Check back in a bit when we’ll be bringing you Bungie’s first Reach ViDoc. In the meantime, SCREENSHOTS!
