Game Failure Podcast Episode 6 is Up

So I was invited back on the Game Failure podcast again last week and this time, it went off just fine.

For those who don’t know, I was on a couple of weeks back as a guest, but a glitch during saving corrupted the file and the podcast was lost to the mists of time. However this time around, no such problems were had.

I’d like to thank Steve and Aaron for having me on (again). I had a good time and I’m thankful that we didn’t have to worry about crashes this time around.

So head over to Game Failure’s homepage or head straight to the iTunes store and download/subscribe to it there. If you could, please rate the podcast and/or leave a review when you’ve finished listening to help spread the word, huh?

“Name Forthcoming” Comes to an End -and- Updates on the CFD! Podcast

The ninth episode of the “Name Forthcoming” podcast is now live. They had me onboard again this week, for whatever crazy reason. Hit the link on the sidebar to go to the page.

Or download it straight from this link.

I have two pieces of bad news to follow this, though: First off, this is the last episode of “Name Forthcoming”. Secondly, remember the huge, epic podcast I mentioned that Jason and I recorded post-E3? 4 hours of talking and all that? It’s being scrapped as well. Yeah, sorry about that.

However, both of these announcements are tied together into one huge piece of good news.

For those of you who haven’t already heard (or aren’t involved personally), the crew of “Name Forthcoming” will be merging with Crush! Frag! Destroy! and in two weeks we will be relaunching the show as CFD!’s new podcast!

Yes, we’re rather excited by this news as well. We hope this will help both groups out, by bringing Name’s fans and listeners over to CFD! and bringing our existing readers in as a new set of ears for Scott Thompson and crew. It’s a win/win situation!

We also have some other plans in the works over the next two weeks, leading up to the relaunch. Keep watching CFD!, Scott’s 1UP blog and mine as well for more info as we get it out there.

Podcast Blues

Gr3ml1n GamingSo as you may or may not have seen me mention on Twitter, I was going to be sitting in on this week’s Game Failure podcast. Steve and Aaron and I had an awesome chat for an hour and a half or so about E3 and what we’d been playing. We talked about inFamous and the 1 vs 100 beta and a number of other neat things.

And then the recording equipment crashed while saving, corrupted the podcast and we lost it all.

Just a word, Steve? Maybe you should change the name of the site? Oh, irony.

Seriously though, while it sucks that the episode is lost, go check them out just the same. Thanks for having me on, guys – it was a great chat and I’d love to do it again anytime you need to fill a chair.

“Name Forthcoming” Podcast – Guest Starring Some Idiot From CFD!

Some of you may already be familiar with “Name Forthcoming”, the podcast with a name that is…well…forthcoming. It was started up back in February by Scott “OK Soda” Thompson, a 1UP.com user. As you may have noticed, we linked to them over in the “Friends” sidebar a while back, as CFD!’s own Jason Smith was a regular on the show before he joined our ranks over here.

Well, this past Sunday, Scott and crew had me on as a guest for their Post-E3 “Top 5″ wrap-up. We had a good time, a few technical difficulties aside. The new episode is now online – go check it out! Listen to me make a fool of myself! Listen to Jason and Ray drink the Hater-ade on Left 4 Dead 2! Listen to just Jason (and not Ray) drink it on The Last Guardian! Just listen, already!

Click the link on the sidebar and look for Episode 8. Or, for that matter, hit the download link here.

Podcasts, Promotions and the Yawning Silence

It’s been a pretty quiet day so far in CFD!-land. It’s been pretty quiet all around, to be honest. Most of the big game companies blew their load at E3 and, thusly, big newsworthy announcements have been pretty slim for the last couple of days.

So don’t mistake our silence for apathy or another vacation or what have you. We’re just taking the time to get some other stuff done around the site until something interesting happens. When it does, we’ll try to be on top of it as soon as we can. Also, CFD!’s other writer-in-residence, Jason Smith, is on vacation this week so that reduces our manpower by a considerable factor. Enjoy Vegas, man – win big!

In podcast-related news fun, I recently guested on the “Name Forthcoming” podcast that Jason has been a part of for a while. We just recorded this past Sunday, doing our Top 5 E3 Announcements lists. I’ll be sure to give everyone a heads-up when it goes up.

I also will be guesting on the Game Failure podcast, which is recording this Thursday. Not sure when it’ll be up, but again, you’ll know when I know more. Yay for site promotions!

That’s all – just a quick note from me to keep you all abreast of what’s been going on these last few days. Hope you’re all having a good week thus far.

Of Plans and Podcasts

Gr3ml1n GamingSo last night saw the stumbling, fumbling first recording efforts for CFD’s pilot podcast. The experience taught me a few things.

  1. I have a newfound respect for Garnett Lee, John Davison, Anthony Gallegos, Shawn Elliott or any other person who runs a podcast that at any point in the past I may have said “Jesus, guys! Two plus hours AGAIN?” in regards to. It is SO much harder than you think to keep talking points whittled down for the sake of keeping a show compact.
  2. This has shown me what not to do next time around: coming unprepared without notes, not paying attention to the clock, etc.
  3. I need to make sure I’m somewhere highly comfortable while recording, as I may not be moving for a while.

Last night, Jason and I were on Skype for five hours. FIVE. HOURS.

We originally planned to try and bring the show out at around an hour and a half-to-two hours, since there was a LOT to talk about. We ended up recording around four hours of material. Yeah.

Now before you go freaking out, don’t worry (too much) – as the recording plowed onward, my original plans to release this as one podcast were rapidly replaced with the much more reasonable idea of splitting it into two pieces. This beast is far too much for any sane person to endure in one hit; we love you all too much to put you through that.

So it looks like the majority of my weekend is going to be taken up with editing this up and getting it online. I hope you guys can be patient with us and please do note that this is not going to be our regular format; It was just a test that ran horribly out of control and we’ll have things under a much tighter reign (with a much shorter running time) when next we do this.

Thanks, everyone.
