Recently, the official dates and location were announced for the 2nd Annual GeekGirlCon in Seattle, Washington. Last year’s convention saw 4,000 attendees, with geeks from all over the country flocking to Seattle to celebrate women in geek culture. The two-day gaming-style event includes panels of speakers from various geek entertainment industries, a lively expo hall, contests, and concerts all in the name of female geekdom.
This year’s GeekGirlCon will be held Saturday, August 11 through Sunday, August 12, 2012 at downtown Seattle’s Washington State Convention Center in the Conference Center. Passes are officially on sale: 2-day passes running $35 and single day passes (Saturday or Sunday individually) are $20 each. There are also kid passes for children ages 5-10, which run $5 apiece (children under four are free with an adult pass).
As was the case last year, the GeekGirlCon is an organization that spans more than merely the one weekend of the convention in August. All-hands meetings open to the public to discuss what’s being planned for the con as well as other GeekGirl events are already on the calendar for the upcoming months. So if you live in the Seattle area, keep your eyes peeled for movie nights, gaming events, and more leading up to the big event.
