Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, will be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, alongside industry legends like Will Wright, Mark Cerny and Sid Meier. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the 2012 D.I.C.E. Summit in February.
Sweeney, who played a pivotal role in the success of Epic Games and their Unreal Engine, will be the 16th individual added to the AIAS Hall of Fame. The Epic Games mastermind will receive his award at the 15th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards on February 9, presented by Epic’s Vice President Mark Rein.
Rein stated how Sweeney is not only a brilliant thinker, but an extraordinary leader who helped other artistic individuals succeed within the company. The guy must be good since he created the breeding ground for Cliffy B’s extraordinary imagination, creativity and powerful ego drive.
