If positive critical reception and your friends shouting “there be giants, dragons, and giant dragons” doesn’t interest you in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there are now 40 more reasons to consider it.

According to Andriasang, leaks confirm that the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu gave Skyrim 40/40, the first perfect score ever assigned to a Western title. Famitsu’s review team consists of four individuals who, in many cases, grant flawless reviews to a limited number of Japanese classics from Nintendo, Capcom and Square Enix. Beforehand, the highest score a Western developed video game received was 39.

As for other sites, Metacritic states 27 popular publications also assigned a perfect score, and more critical reviews of the game remain above 90 percent.

Skyrim continues to receive phrase, but we’re pretty sure it has nothing to do with giant dragons… maybe.
