Gamestop’s been a busy hive lately. On top of recently acquiring and integrating the PC digital download service, Impulse, to its mega game-selling arsenal the company has appointed former Microsoft Games Studios vice president Shane Kim to its board of directors.
Kim left Microsoft in 2010 in favor of consulting work around the technosphere so his return to the gaming industry, albeit in a retail space, is a notable one.
Dan DeMatteo, executive chairman of Gamestop, suggested that Kim’s coupling of video game knowledge and business savvy would help advance Gamestop’s cause in the digital realm.
All I know is they’d better do something comprehensive in that regard soon, because holy Steam and Amazon sales, Batman!
