Zombies! Jewels! Oodles of money!
A company as charmingly goofy (and wildly successful) as Popcap wasn’t bound to stay independent for long, so the folks at Electronic Arts figured they’d throw their hat in the ring…along with $750 million.
According to EA CEO John Riccitiello, the purchase will help boost EA’s digital revenues past $1 billion in their 2012 fiscal year.
The acquisition means almost nothing as far as influencing Popcap’s creativity (as they’re quick to tell us), but it does mean we’ll see Plants vs. Zombies on literally every platform imaginable. So that version for alarm radio I predicted last year? Yeah, totally happening now.
