Second on the E3 2011 press conference list was EA, touting its no-frills presentation (a not-so-subtle jab at the competition) with a slew of games from nine developers.
- Mass Effect 3: Unlike the Microsoft press conference, it was purely gameplay this time, and plenty of it, with Shepard and company (including Joker, Legion, and Mordin) taking on a Reaper up close and personal.
- Need for Speed: The Run: The latest in the eternal NFS series, The Run appears to be taking a dirtier, cinematic route, complete with out-of-car quick time events. Unnecessary? Innovative? We’ll see.
- Star Wars: The Old Republic: No gameplay shown today, but Dr. Greg assures us it’s still great and introduces a slick. trailer

- SSX: The long-awaited reboot looks impressive, with ridiculous jumps, returning characters, and three ways to play: “Race It, Trick It, Survive It.”
- FIFA Soccer 12: The already massively popular soccer series is receiving a further bump with the addition of Football Club, a persistence system with a number of ways for fans to take their addiction to an even deeper level.
- Madden 12: Duh. Some scant footage was shown, and three football players were trotted to advertise upcoming features. Are you ready ready?
- The Sims Social: Did you like Farmville? Do you enjoy The Sims? Have a Facebook account? Enjoy shameless gossip? This might be for you, unfortunately.

- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning: This fantasy-action game, from Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios, looks good, at least. No telling on the quality of play.
- Overstrike: Insomianc’s new IP looks to be some sort of tongue-in-cheek spy/mercenary adventure, with a crew of four comical heroes. Only a trailer today, but the concept and approach look promising.
- Battlefield 3: An extended, gorgeous looking demo with tank combat made up the bulk of this one. The game’s release date, October 25, will be preceded by a multiplayer beta in September.
Next up: Ubisoft!
