Activision’s newest entry in the Call of Duty series will look awfully pretty on those store shelves this fall, Kotaku reports.
While the art for Modern Warfare 3 hasn’t been confirmed by Activision, the logo matches unrelated posts on a forum called The Electric Hydra. Given several Activision covers were leaked a couple years ago and turned out to be accurate, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re looking at the real deal.
Kotaku also cites a source who’s seen MW3 in action, claiming series creator (or what’s left of them) Infinity Ward is at the helm, with Raven Software and newcomer Sledgehammer Studios in supporting roles.
The third entry in the Modern Warfare segment of the Call of Duty series will pick up after the events of Modern Warfare 2, with Soap MacTavish and Captain Price possibly returning. The biggest change, however, will reportedly be a wider, more “epic” scale in mostly large and destructible urban environments.
If history repeats itself and Activision continues its marketing habits of the past few years, we’ll either see a Modern Warfare 3 reveal trailer during the twilight of the NBA playoffs or a cameo on Spike TV. Then more info at E3, then thousands of gamers lining up for an early November launch. Maybe.
