So World of Goo came out not too long ago for the iPad. There was much rejoicing and all, but all of us iPhone and iPod Touch users were sort of left out in the cold. Fortunately, those wonderful human beings over at 2D Boy have just announced that an iPhone/iTouch version is coming. In fact, it’s coming very, very soon.

According to their blog, they’ve already submitted the more compact version to Apple. So barring any unforeseen difficulties it should be up on the App Store in the very near future. Even better is the admission that they’ve learned a few things from the iPad launch and will be offering the game at a discounted price for early adopters. For the first twenty-four hours of its release, World of Goo for the iPhone/iPod will be a measly buck ($0.99). After that it’ll go back to its intended price of three dollars ($3.00).

Don’t worry if you’ve already bought the iPad version, though; they’re making it universal so you’ll have access to the “smaller” version for free. Just make sure you’ve got a compatible device before you get all excited. As long as you’re using an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 you’re good. Likewise you’ll need a 3rd gen iPod Touch, but make sure it’s the real 3rd gen first which I think is whatever comes after the 8GB model.
