UPDATE: Square Enix issued a correction to the press release announcing these details earlier today. The extra weapons and credits listed as being part of the Augmented Edition are preorder only and do not come standard. All of the other content on the bonus DVD, however, is correct.

As I’ve admitted before, I’ve never played either of the previous two Deus Ex games (I can hear you now, sharpening your pitchforks and lighting your torches… at least over the first one). However, I’m pretty fully geeked out for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. And now similarly geeked cyberpunk fans can mark a date on their calenders, as Square Enix has dropped the release date for this long-awaited return to the franchise.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be unleashing it’s brand of “open-ended, hybrid gameplay” on August 23rd, 2011. And if the standard version just won’t do it for you, slide a few extra credits over and partake of the extra goodies to be found in the Augmented Edition: an exclusive mission, 10,000 extra credits, 3 more weapons, two pieces of equipment and a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes specials, soundtrack, motion-comics, storyboard and more.

Seriously. It sounds like a great package. And if you can’t get enough Deus Ex goodness, stay tuned — We’ll be bringing you preview details from the live demo at PAX East 2011 this weekend!

  1. What’s that? I can hardly hear you over the sound of my flaming pitchfork.

  2. Oh, ok…I’ll get the Augmented Edition! They had me at “behind the scenes specials”. I love hearing geeks get all geeky about their geekery!
