We promised it was coming today and we didn’t lie to you. CFD! is opening the doors, unboarding the windows and letting the shambling horde in for one lucky winner this Halloweek.

Who wants a free copy of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero? Well hit the jump already — time’s running out!

What We’re Giving Away:

How To Win:

The first Dead Rising took place in a shopping mall, taking cues from George Romero’s classic flim, Dawn of the Dead. Dead Rising 2 takes place in fictitious resort of Fortune City, Nevada — obviously modeled on the famous Las Vegas Strip.

What CFD! wants to know is: In what setting/environment would you like to see Dead Rising 3 take place? Be creative! Give us examples of what kind of costumes the protagonist would find, what sort of inventive zombie slaying techniques would be unique to this setting, anything! Go nuts, kids!

How To Enter:

Submit your entry by following the steps below:

  1. Register – If you haven’t already done so, register for the site. You can find the login on the far right of the site, just below the staff bar. This is required so that we have a valid email address or other means of contact by which we can send you your code. Entries that do not have registered accounts on the site will not be eligible.
  2. Comment – Leave your message in the comments section below with your entry idea.

We’ll pick one winner with the most interesting idea from all the qualifying entries on the evening of Saturday, October 30th and will notify them on Sunday, October 31st so they can enjoy their zombie slaying in time for Halloween.

Legal Mumbo-Jumbo:

Contest is open to all countries – however, make certain you can redeem North American XBLA codes on your account. CFD! will not be held responsible if the code is invalid for your region. Current CFD! staff (including probationary members) are not eligible to win. One winner per household. In the event that a prize winner cannot be reached or becomes ineligible, CFD! reserves the right to pick a new winner from the eligible entries. Have fun!

Hmm, i would say something along the lines of a huge theme park. Roller-coasters, Ferris Wheels, bumper cars, and so on. :]

  2. I was tempted to say Antartica since they could get away with a Lost Planet re-skin, but I figured that Antarctica’s probably not as populous as would be necessary for a game like Dead Rising – y’know, fighting zombie penguins just wouldn’t cut it for me.

As such, I think an luxury cruise ship could be be a fun location for Dead Rising 3 – potentially quite a lot of different situations in the on-board facilities so opportunities for a lot of fun and mischief. You could have a gym, a casino, a pool, a bar, some shops to get your food-fix, the engine room for your hardware needs and even a guard station for some more traditional weaponry. Can you imagine creating a gap in the hoarde with an LRAD (noise-emitting thingy they have on ships) and trying to rush survivors along the deck as the power runs out and the zombies begin to converge on you? Lots of possibilities!

Infection would spread quickly through the ‘captive’ audience, so there’s so premise for that as well. Could have story events with rescuers trying to get on board (either trying to rescue or eradicate) and maybe even some pirate action.

Anyway, who wouldn’t love to beat zombies overboard with a giant swim float while dressed as the captain?!

I think it’d be cool if it happened at like some sort of comic/gaming convention. Imagine all the costumed nerd zombies coming at you. And let’s not forget zombie booth babes ;) I’m just saying…

    woooooooooo

They should keep it with the mall theme, just move it to the Mall of America. Three stories of carnage and just about every shop known to man. Imagine the weapons you could make.

  6. New York City! How awesome would that be?!

  7. jawdroppuh

I think a mall setting is the best place for this game

dead rising 3 should be set in a disneyland style theme park. opportunities for all sorts of shops and wacky costumes such as mascots, safari gear, princess dresses, wicked witch hats, and tourist items. there would be a hotel and a buncha rides. and there would be lots of child zombies, which would be a big change from dead rising 2 which had no children whatsoever other than your own daughter. security guard equipment for traditional firearms, as well as the usual grounds keeper equipment, fireworks, trashcans etc. pieces and decorations from the various rides could be collected and used to create new and innovative weapons and vehicles. other buildings could consist of a haunted house, restaurants, tourist shops and for minigames there would be those carny games like knock over the pins with a baseball and ring toss.

I personally would like to see Dead Rising taken to Japan; I can’t think of any other zombie game that takes place there, and Japan has a lot of cool areas that would make for awesome eye candy and a fun sandbox environment.

I dunno about the costumes for the main character, but there would definitely have to be some zombie Japanese schoolgirls in there somewhere, and death by a Tokyo tour bus and/or a tricked out street racing car.

I would like to see him go back in time for some strange unexplained reason. Like 1820-1920ss and he fights zombies from the past. Wait that doesn’t make any sense if there were zombies in the past we would know about it, right?

The costumes would be the suits of old and dresses as well.

Running over Zombies with the Model T and destroying old buildings so it would crush the zombies inside.

Dead Rising 3 should take place in any kind of theme park. You still have the large number of people to zombify, but now you also have a bunch of these rides. Can someone say minigames? There could be an arcade and etc. The spirit of the mall-type setting can be easily tranferred over to a theme park setting.

Keeping in line with Capcom having to keep it all in some mall like location I would go with an Airport. It has enough shops and whatnot for a mallish look but there would be enough random things in suitcases and luggage around to kill a few zombies. And you could ride around on the little car or take a trip on the luggage carousels to a secret world not seen by non airport employees.

  13. Detroit. It’s already pretty worn down and scary :P

  14. bastiartadi

Guess someone beat me to it. The best way to go is a theme park/carnival. Think of the possibilities..!

  15. Chronorayven

Canada the best place to have DR3 lots of open spaces and very little people = less zombies to kill and more time to roam around no time limit :P

  16. Kevin

    Let’s give it a shot…

  17. backdropjunkie

I think that it would be awesome to see a Dead Rising game that takes place near the ocean at a boardwalk. Take for example the famous boardwalk in Coney Island, New York or the beach boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California. Imagine a ton of zombies roaming around the beach and mayhem ensuing on roller coasters and in and around the many shops and other attractions that dot the area. It’s like a vacation in hell.

  18. RAWR

SCOTLAND! Zombies in kilts and haggis for everyone!!!

  19. Laura

i would love to win this for my husband

  20. Good question. Did we ever decide that?

  21. Hey, sorry about the delay – TONS of crap has been going on.

The winner, funnily enough, was YOU! :D

  22. Thanks! :D Much appreciated.
