CFD!’s Team DeathChat: Episode 9 – 8/24/2010

team_deathchat_w_textTwo apologies right off the bat.

First, I’m sorry for the lateness of this episode. Planning for PAX and other things have been making sending those of us at CFD!’s home base running all over the place like the proverbial headless chicken. Let’s just pretend last week didn’t happen and that the show is only like, a day or so late, okay?

Secondly, I’m sorry as to the rough audio quality of this episode. Scott, our regular podcast guru, has been indisposed the last few weeks as he prepares to move into his newly purchased home, which is also part of the reason we haven’t recorded in a bit. Thankfully, George from Press Pause Radio stepped up, not only in being an awesome guest but also in recording the whole mess for us.

However, seeing as this was my first time editing a show together, I wasn’t exactly paying attention to volume levels and there’s a lot of clipping during the musical breaks (which you’ll also note are a bit longer than our usual breaks — that part I don’t feel sorry for. Screw you. I like music, okay?). This was in no way a flub on George’s end — it was all my lack of audio mixing skills combined with me being tired and frustrated at programs crashing over and over again.

So, provided you can get past the sound quality, we hope you enjoy this epic crossover of epic epicness between Crush! Frag! Destroy!, Press Pause Radio and Spawn Kill. And extra thanks to George and Stephanie for being awesome guests.

CFD!’s Team DeathChat

Episode 9 – 8/24/2010

It may have taken a bit to get it up (like Mark Wahlberg’s prosthetic penis in Boogie Nights), but Team DeathChat returns with an epic show edging on the three hour mark. Why three hours, you ask? Do you think a measly two hours could contain all the awesome that is three of the usual four TDC cast (sans Scott) alongside George “GeorgieBoysAXE” Fagundes and Stephanie “Tigresa” Palermo from Press Pause Radio and Spawn Kill, respectively? Yeah, we didn’t think so either.

In the first segment, we dish about StarCraft II, Dead Space, Dark Void, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, some old-school SNES titles, Madden NFL 11, Assassin’s Creed II, Monday Night Combat, Risk: Factions, DeathSpank and a flood of Xbox Live Indie and iPhone games. We told you it was epic (like Mark Wahlberg’s prosthetic penis).

In the second segment, we discuss the elusive beast that is “Games Journalism,” talk about AJ Glasser’s recent GamePro article about pressbox unprofessionalism and get a bit disillusioned with professionals who are “journalists” first and “gamers” second… or third… or fourth.

Along the way Rob T. gets tired and hoarse and craves the sweet release of death, Stephanie calls everybody punk bitches for being scared by games, we talk about people hating on Scott Pilgrim and movie adaptations in general, Rob R. gets way too excited over virtual pottery and we end on some retail horror stories.

Better go to the bathroom first, kids, because it’s going to be a long, rough ride (like Mark Wahlberg’s prosthetic penis).

  1. Now I just need a menial task around the house to do while listening.

  2. Awesome. Retail horror stories? I’m in! Will definitely listen to at work this evening!

  3. Excited to listen to this one. I’m finally moving, so things should return to normal next week. Also, I’ve always wanted to do longer musical interludes, and now that I see the boss doing it, I can do it too! :)
