UPDATE: Amanita Design has just extended the cutoff date for the sale to August 16th. So just in case you “forgot” to buy it before, now you have a few more days to fix that problem.

They’ve been around ever since the Dawn of Man. Thieves, Crooks, Robbers, Brigands, Cattle Rustlers, Pirates, etc… Ever since people have existed, there’s always been those who would prefer to simply take rather than earn.
F*cking scumbags, the lot of them.
It’s no surprise that Amanita Design’s phenomenal (and peerless) adventure game, Machinarium, has been pirated. Despite the fact that a hard copy is only $20 and includes the game, soundtrack and a special bonus EP, and the other fact that it’s made by a small group of people (an independent developer, if you will) as opposed to a massive, soulless corporation, people still stole it. Rather than get mad (although I’m sure they did anyway), Amanita Design is actually giving these human brown-eyes a chance to make amends in the form of a special 75% Off sale.
So until August 12th (basically today and tomorrow, because we didn’t spot the sale until recently) you can purchase the Greatest Point-and-Click Adventure Game of All Time for a paltry $5. This even includes the bonus soundtracks. For $5. The idea is that any pirates with a shred of humanity left in them might feel a little guilty and want to make up for their indiscretions. It’s an interesting “glass half-full” way of looking at things, to say the least.
Regardless, the sale is open to everyone, including law-abiding internet citizens. So if for some odd reason you still haven’t purchased the Greatest Point-and-Click Adventure Game of All Time yet, now’s your chance to play the best of the best for less than you’ll spend on dinner.

Aww, this story makes me super sad.
Buy it, goddamn it!
I completely 156% against Piracy & this response to the gaming community not only displays this sense of admiration but just points out the sense of compassion over business which sadly may explain why a lot of indie developers are left on the wayside as the path of profit falls through farther in the distance but it’s this kind of business that makes me want to give them mine on principal alone & from what I hear, Machinarium is experience through & through, I’ll have to see to it that I gets this game very soon, I just have a faulty video card that definitely needs replacing…
And to further entice would-be purchasers of one of the greatest games ever (for $5! It’s just $5, people!), you can also play the demo here: http://machinarium.net/demo/
