E3 2010: Metal Gear Solid: Rising Gets Slice-tacular New Trailer, Watermelons!

In stunning fashion, Microsoft’s E3 presser kicked off with an extended look at Call of Duty: Black Ops, followed by Hideo Kojima’s presentation of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Raiden-enabled third-person action title by Kojima Productions.

Detailing spiffy bullet (sword?) time effects, destructible objects, and the sexiest (wo)man since Edward Cullen, Rising was one of the more impressive eyes-on titles during the Xbox press conference. Take a look for yourselves, then hop on over to the recap of CFD!’s liveblog of the event. It’s certainly… something.

  1. This looks like it could be a lot of fun. I have never played through a Metal Gear Solid game before (I’m not the “stealth-y” type of gamer). This game looks to be more running around and slicing people/things than stealth. If so, I’m definitely interested in picking it up!

  2. You should try Peace Walker, assuming you have a PSP. Best Metal Gear ever!

And seeing the level of control you have over the slicing (cutting up the watermelon), I’m anxious to know if it might be possible to play through the game without killing soldiers. I mean if you can slice up fruit with that level of precision, I wouldn’t think cutting your enemies’ guns apart (rendering them helpless or scaring them off) is out of the question. And pretty much every Metal Gear since Sons of Liberty allows you to complete the game without causing a single fatality.
