Another Summer is upon us and along with the customary triple shot of shorts, suntan lotion and stifling heat comes yet another alliterative hat-trick in the form of the video game industry’s biggest trade show: the Electronic Entertainment Expo – E3 2010 is here.
And even though CFD! can’t be in Los Angeles this year, we’re going to do our best again to cover things from afar (while silently assembling our master plan to dominate the show floor next year). What does that mean to all of you, our loyal readers? We’re going to run down all of the details just under the jump. See you there.
So, there’s going to be a bit of a change to our standard weekly layout to accommodate the flood of information that’s going to be pouring into the site over the next week. In order to put the focus on game announcements, screenshots, videos, liveblogs and all the other E3 media you’re going to want to see (sorry, but no previews since we’re not going to be there in person – trust me, we’re as crushed as you are), we’re going to put a temporary hold features and reviews of new games until next week.
This doesn’t mean we’re going to be review-free this week, mind you. Instead, we’re going to take this opportunity to clean out some backlogged older reviews that have been waiting in queue for a while. We also may break with our usual Monday/Wednesday/Friday review release schedule and push out one (or more) per day so we can get back on a regular rotation of all the new stuff once E3 is over.
Just like last year, we’re also going to be liveblogging the E3 2010 press conferences: from the Big Three (Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony) to those by major publishers (EA, Konami, Ubisoft). They’re going to be broadcast live on G4 as well as streamed from multiple locations online (we’ll provide links where we can) so we encourage you to watch along with us and, more importantly, comment on the whole spectacle! Cover It Live (the liveblogging service we use) allows you to add your comments to a moderated queue and we’ll add the best ones to be featured in the chat. The press conference schedule is as follows:
E3 2010 Press Conferences (All Start Times Listed Pacific/Eastern)
Monday – June 14th
- 10am/1pm – Microsoft
- 2pm/5pm – Electronic Arts
- 5pm/8pm – Ubisoft
Tuesday – June 15th
- 9am/12pm – Nintendo
- 12pm/3pm – Sony
Wednesday – June 16th
- 1pm/4pm – Konami (Press conference still happening – we just won’t be liveblogging it. Sorry.)
It’s sure to be an interesting time, especially since so many new games have been revealed in the week leading up to the show. What surprises will the pressers hold? We hope you’ll all join us in finding out!
