The Worldwide Developer’s Conference 2010 presser just ended and aside from the inevitable iPhone 4 announcement, Apple introduced several new features and games for the iPlatform family. CFD! got up early to track down the relevant bits for you, dear reader, so you don’t have to hunt through the millions of liveblogs polluting the internet.
Hit the jump for details.
- Zynga announces Farmville on iPhone. Unclear whether or not it will be cross-compatible with the Facebook version. Available the end of June, featuring in-app purchases. Exclusive “snow leopard” download for iPhone. Har har.
- Guitar Hero on iPhone – Available today for $2.99 on the App Store. Features Queen and the Rolling Stones along with other classic rock artists.
- 5 Billion App Store downloads as of last week. Developers have made (collectively) over $1 billion.
- 3-axis gyro for gaming. Measures angular velocity, pitch, yaw, and roll, and rotation about gravity. Tied to accelerometer to provide 6-axis motion sensing. Also cooperates with the compass, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. Steve Jobs physically turned his body and the blocks off wood (ala Jenga) in the tech demo went with him.
- iAd will be incorporated into all Apps, games included. Expect a big boatload of Toy Story ads within your Drop7 games. iAd will be activated July 1st.
Were there disappointments at Apple’s keynote? Did they announce an iPhone for Verizon? Then yes, there were. The good news is iOS 4 will be available with the Game Center for free on June 21st and the iPhone 4 on June 24th.
