If you loved last year’s deliciously fun Nintendo DS title Scribblenauts – if not for the inventive design and cutesy graphics, but for the sheer awesomeness of summoning Cthulhu and watching him totally obliterate Santa Claus – you’ll be excited to hear that there’s even more awesomeness coming our way soon.

Super Scribblenauts is due to return this fall, just a year on from the original, with a focus on upgrading the vocabulary, and perhaps more importantly, addressing the issues with controls that the original presented. The announcement of the sequel boasts 10,000 new words, a hint system for those really frustrating situations, and a focus on the use of adjectives. And although “the use of adjectives” doesn’t usually suggest a lot of fun in gaming terms, this could mean customization of the created items – expanding the gameplay possibilities.

As far as the levels themselves go, according to Edge there will be 120 “new and improved” levels, along with a level editor which improves on the original version. The use of the “Par System” – which takes note of how many objects it took for you to complete the level – is also being scrapped, which could mean a new outlook on scoring, or just an opportunity to go crazy and use as many objects as you can to create some chaos! Muhahaha…

Either way, if the success of the first is anything to go by, this will be one of the DS titles to watch this year.
