If you haven’t heard already (who’re you kidding?), LittleBigPlanet 2 has been officially announced by Sony. It’s not like Twitter, rumors, and Game Informer leaks weren’t enough proof, but it’s nice to hear from the big guys themselves.

The essential sequel features are here, such as additional stickers, costumes, items, and levels. The biggest addition, however, is the implementation of “puppet A.I.” characters that can be programmed to perform different actions within the levels. Custom cutscenes and control schemes are among the other new features included in Media Molecule’s next game.

Oh, and Stephen Fry’s back to caress your ear drums with his tongue.

The trailer (posted above) suggests the level of innovation in LBP2 has surpassed the “Create Your Own Levels” motif of the original and boasts “Create Your Own Games.” Those 2 million LittleBigPlanet levels will be compatible with the new game, for those wondering.

We’ll see more of LittleBigPlanet 2 at E3, but Sony promises a 2010 release date for Sackboy’s next adventure(s).
