Crackdown 2 Re-enlisting Agents This July
If you’re anything like me – and I know I am – you picked up the first Crackdown expecting an amusing distraction to play while waiting for the included Halo 3 multiplayer beta to go live. What you found instead was an addictively fun superhero-meets-supercop sandbox that had you hallucinating green agility orbs atop every building in your own city, leaving you plotting the best path of ledges to climb in order to reach them.
Well, if you’ve been holding your breath for another turn at Pacific City ever since Crackdown 2 was announced at E3 2009, you at least know now when you get to exhale. July 6th in North America, July 8th in Asia/Australia/New Zealand and July 9th in Europe.
To celebrate, Microsoft and Ruffian Games released the video documentary above, entitled “Fun with Friends”, which focuses on the game’s 4-player co-op, 16-player PvP and a whole slew of Scottish guys talking about explosions. Also mentioned are a couple of interesting new details such as “renegade” agility orbs that run away from you rather than just sitting idle, waiting for you to snatch them up. Oh, man. It looks like those hallucinatory fantasies just got a little more complex.

I might be the only living soul who picked up Crackdown for Crackdown. It’s still my favorite 360 game to date and I’m looking forward to the second even though I’m concerned by the new developers and the expanded multiplayer.
I actually had a preorder in for Crackdown – just for Crackdown. I never even tried that Halo 3 demo!
