CFD!’s Team DeathChat: Episode 1 Show Notes
The wait is over. The podcast is finally here.
And it’s only… what? Four days late? Sadly, that was the fault of a small, unavoidable glitch. We promise that any future delays will be strictly due to our own laziness and incompetence.
However, even though we didn’t know it when we were recording the first episode, we do finally have a name for the show!

After all, seeing as we’re just a bunch of guys sitting around computers with headsets on, it’s not a very big leap to imagine us going from talking smack about games to talking smack in a game, right? That being said, I think we’ll do our best to avoid recording while knee-deep in a match of Team Fortress 2. Might be more than a little distracting.
But enough chit-chat – hit the jump for the show notes, download link and an embedded player for those of you who actually have nothing better to do than sit on our site for a couple of hours and listen. I checked out your first podcast. Not bad. Congrats on getting it going!
I had a comment about the Heavy Rain portion. It was mentioned that Madison was just kind of a Florence Nightingale character – but did any of you get the whole bit about her being a journalist?
She was watching Ethan for book material, which is why she was helping him. I don’t think she really had thing where she could only sleep in motels. She was just inventing a story for Ethan’s benefit.
I know she never spells it out specifically but we do hear that she chose Ethan as her next story, so the implications are pretty bold.
By the way, I made it through with everyone alive…until Scott’s demise at the climax.
I suppose we should mark these comments spoiler territory ;P
Haley: Yeah I did get that she was a journalist, but what I meant was more that it never felt like they fleshed out her character as much. I dunno – it may be a personal thing but I wanted to know more about her past, her personality. She just seemed underdeveloped to me, which bugged me because I WANTED to know more about her.
As for the insomnia issues, it did seem like the mentioned it during her introduction? I may be misremembering it though. But yeah, it felt like a contrivance just to get her to the motel.
I imagine the DLC (Heavy Rain Chronicles) will help to flesh-out more of the different characters’ back story.

I know it’s not likely, but It would be cool if they did some sort of follow-up on Madison’s story. The premise of another serial killer (one who sounded an awful lot like Ethan’s psychiatrist) taking an interest in her seems like it’d make for some great added content.
‘The Taxidermist’ is a Madison prequel story. It takes place a while before Heavy Rain. Since it was made as a vertical slice demonstration before they made the main game, her voice actor is different. (it was originally never meant to be released)
On this week’s ’4Guys1UP’ there is an interview with David Cage. He talks about using DLC episodes to tell more about the various characters in prequels.
Maybe they’ll explain how Jayden got that infected hair follicle on his face… ;)
Don’t even get me started on that. Seriously. I just wanted to pop the damn thing and have it over with so it wasn’t staring me in the face at every pre-Jayden load screen.
He did mention that he knows how Jayden got the scar on his face – and that’s one of the things the DLC might cover.
I finally got around to listening to the second half of the podcast this morning and I just wanted to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly!
You guys seem to mesh pretty well together and it made for an entertaining listen. And I know while I’ve heard your voice before, Rob (Thomas), you really remind me a lot of Mark McDonald… o.O
Anywho, good stuff peoples. Time to check out Episode 2!
o.O was my reaction to that too. I went back and had to dig up old episodes of the 1UP Show and listen carefully.
I’m not sure I hear it so much, other than that we both have slightly higher voices than normal for men of our relative sexiness, but I’m also not the best judge of my own performance anyway. Thanks for the good words though! We appreciate it!
