It’s been a long time coming, having first been teased for a North American release back in 2008, but Sega is finally thawing Infinite Space from cryosleep and preparing it for launch on March 16th.
Developed by Platinum Games and Nude Maker (oh, Japan! You and your names…), Infinite Space looks like every sci-fi anime nerd’s wet dream come true. You get to design your own fleet of ships from over 100 different types, customize them with weapons and other modules, crew them with another 100+ characters, explore two different galaxies, and engage in ship-to-ship combat.
If your head just exploded at that description, chances are I had your attention at “sci-fi anime”. For the rest of you who may be less convinced, watch the video above. Also, it’s worth noting that the game reviewed very well when it came out in Japan last summer, earning a 34/40 and a Gold award from Famitsu, with reviewers praising its depth and complexity.
Don’t let this one slip under your radar, as I have a feeling it may not end up getting the visibility on this side of the pond that it deserves. Keep your eyes on CFD! for more.

It looks kind of like Suikoden in space. Which is awesome!
Shame about the terrible voice acting though.
I’ve had my eye on this game since it was announced. I’ve had a preorder in the instant it was available to do so. I hope it lives up to my expectations because this one looks like an amazing time sink of fun!
