X10: Dead Rising 2 Dated, Prologued, Screenshot-ed

We’ve all seen some cosplay horror stories in our time, but there’s a difference between “costuming on a budget” and “not even trying” and Dead Rising 2‘s Chuck Greene falls squarely into the later category. I mean, this is your idea of a Wolverine costume? A yellow and black leather jacket and knives duct-taped to boxing gloves? Really, bub?

Wait… what? Huh? You… you mean Dead Rising 2 isn’t about a lone comic geek stranded at a George Romero convention, fighting his way to freedom?

Oh. Well I feel stupid now.

Actually, Dead Rising 2‘s brand of mass zombie slaughter in a pseudo-Las Vegas tourist town was finally given a release date at Microsoft’s X10 event. North America can expect to wade into the shambling horde on August 31st while Japan is invaded on September 2nd and Europe on September 3rd. You have a fair bit of time to stock up on supplies… and cash in your chips at the casino – they won’t be worth much once the Zombie Apocalypse hits.

Some time before then, however, Capcom will be releasing a downloadable prologue called Dead Rising: Case Zero that will serve to bridge the gap between the two games. No actual date has yet been attacked to Case Zero, so keep your eyes peeled.

In the meantime, enjoy some screenshots, ten dollars in free chips, and a comp buffet, on the house. And don’t forget – Wayne Newton will be in concert at 7pm and 9pm! Don’t miss it!

  1. Maybe it’s just my love for the first game but every time I hear something new about the upcoming sequel I’m less eager to see it. Of course, that might change.

With this one, I’m going to have to let the game speak for itself once we see the real thing hitting my console in demo form.
