Along with the release date reveal and the announcement of the long-promised PC version being canceled, Remedy and Microsoft also unveiled the contents of the collector’s edition of Alan Wake at X10 last week. What is your $80 going to get you? Well, if you’re not exactly clear on what the image above contains, perhaps you should hit the jump for details, huh?
Packaged inside that jumbo, shelf-hogging case designed to look like a hardcover novel, you’ll find the following:
- Alan Wake (natch)
- Bonus Disc containing the original soundtrack and score
- Second bonus disc featuring an Xbox Live theme and Alan Wake avatar goodies
- A 144pg book called “The Alan Wake Files”, including a short story by Wake and FBI dossiers about the events surrounding the game
- An Xbox Live download token for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack
What do you think? Is this enough swag to make you wanna pony up an extra $20? Let us know in the comments below, as always.

While I’m not sure if I’ll be throwing my cash at the Collector’s Edition (cool as it sounds), I’m certainly looking forward to the game itself. This might be the top game my sights are set on.
I usually don’t decide on the collector’s editions until I’m in the store looking at it. Being a book fanatic (approx 2500 of them in my apartment), I like that they made it look like a book!
