Greg Hastings Paintball 2 Announced for September

What!? Extreme sports video game coverage on CFD!? Shock and surprise!
Anyway, Majesco Entertainment has issued a press release announcing the latest entry in the Greg Hastings Paintball franchise is coming to current-gen consoles.
The original Greg Hastings’ Tournament Paintball was a Xbox-exclusive first-person shooter developed by The Whole Experience and published by Activision. Having gained a cult following over Xbox Live, the game peaked at number 9 on Major Nelson’s Top 25 List. A successor came in the form of Greg Hastings’ Tournament Paintball Max’d, but offered essentially zero notable improvements over its predecessor.
A sequel by Greenwave Games was in the works in 2008, but Monday’s press release named Super X Studios the developer. Their previous masterpieces include 2001’s Far Gate, Wild Earth, NV Chess, and Desktop Dreamscapes. I am wonderfully hopeful now…
Relevant bullet points include:
- 12 global paintball locations with three to six fields each.
- 7 single-player modes including Tournament Speedball, Recball, and Tournament Woodsball
- 20 player online with 7 game types
- 100 professional and amateur players to choose from
- The opportunity to manage team skills, equipment, and members
- Improved map editor and updated gear selection
- An “All-new” cheat meter
Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is slated for release in September 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii with a promise of downloadable content sometime in the future.
