I am writing this on a snowy and cold Saturday up here in Ontario, and like most Canadians do on days like this I am fondly thinking back to the brief but glorious summer that has only recently passed. The only problem is that all I can remember from summer is how much it rained. Almost everyday it would rain heavily until the afternoon and then just when you thought the sun was finally going to come out, and you ran to grab the frisbee, another shower would move in and ruin all your fun.
Well that is exactly how you’re going to feel with Sony and Quantic Dreams’ Heavy Rain when the game and the first DLC hit together this February. Only in this case you’ll probably be looking forward to more Heavy Rain; the game that is, not the precipitation.
Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog that those who pre-order a copy of Heavy Rain will also recieve the first episode of The Heavy Rain Chronicles for free. Each episode of The Heavy Rain Chronicles will feature one of Heavy Rain‘s main characters in a short story that takes place either before or after the plot of the main game and will feature different outcomes based on the different choices the player makes along the way.
Episode 1 is an expanded version of the ‘Taxidermist’ demo that was shown to the press way back in August 2008. It features investigative journalist, Madison Paige, as she attempts to track down a serial killer. A second episode was also announced but no date or details were given.
Heavy Rain is in the forecast for February 28th; which is good, because by the time February comes around I will be so sick of snow I’ll actually be looking forward to getting some heavy rain; the precipitation that is, but also the game.
