The  Soldier‘s new weapons were revealed yesterday and today for the dual-class update for Team Fortress 2.

The first weapon is called the Direct Hit and takes the place of the regular rocket launcher. The launcher, which has been “engineered from the ground up for Soldiers who have mastered the art of shooting at their targets instead of vaguely near them”, suffers from a 70% smaller splash radius. However, it makes up for it by being 80% faster than its previous model and doing 25% more damage.

Next comes the Equalizer. Taking the melee slot, this pickaxe deals more damage the more you’re hurt. “Get close enough to death, and you will become Death himself,” says the item description. This weapon, interestingly enough, was thought of by two members of the TF2 Forums, who will be getting a special edition Equalizer. Congrats to them!

Finally comes the Buff Banner. Ever find your team short of a Kritzkrieg and needing the extra damage? Well no more will you be dependent on a Medic for your crits. The Buff Banner has a rage meter which builds as you deal damage to other players while it’s equipped. When the rage meter is full, sound your bugle to give all those rallied around you mini-crits for 14 seconds.
