New True Crime Game Announced, Cinematic Trailer Lacks Snoop Dogg

I think I know one person who wants a new True Crime game. Fortunately for him, it looks like we’ll be getting one.

Activision issued the trailer above as part of (you guessed it) Spike’s VGAs on Saturday night.

Disregarding the previous games’ mantra of exploring an impressively accurate model of an American metropolis, the latest installment in the True Crime franchise will take place in Hong Kong.

Missing from the trailer is my favorite character from True Crime: Streets of L.A., rapper Snoop Dogg. That’s just wrong. I want a stand-alone Snoop game! (Ed. Note: There was one in the works, but Fear & Respect got canceled – R.T.)

Instead, True Crime will focus on a nameless undercover officer or government official who is apparently tasked with punching people, running down streets, and pulling sick wheelies on motorcycles, all while infiltrating a Triad gang.

The most notable difference from the previous titles is the presence of a new developer. Series creators Luxoflux have given the reigns to United Front, the studio behind next year’s ModNation Racers.

Take a look at the game’s first trailer and let us know how you managed surviving without the venerable series.
