As previously hinted during an EA financial call, the company has a reimagining of the storied Medal of Honor franchise on the way.
According to this morning’s press release, the aptly titled Medal of Honor will depart the WWII setting and place players in war-torn Afghanistan.
Prominent on the game’s official site are images of the Tier 1 Operator, a member of a mysterious troop division under National Command Authority who are assigned the most dangerous and difficult missions. EA Los Angeles has been working with actual Tier 1 Operators and even DICE, the studio behind EA’s Battlefield series, to recreate the Medal of Honor franchise. It appears DICE is creating the game’s multiplayer component, according to a Twitter post by EA.com’s Editor-in-Chief, Jeff Green.
While little is known about the game’s grungy main character, it seems EA is focusing Medal of Honor around a “soldier’s story”.
Two brief teaser trailers were also provided, one associated with Spike’s VGA’s, and the other (which can be found here), which gives off a 9-second Men Who Stare at Goats vibe. Medal of Honor is expected to release in the extremely specific “Fall 2010″ time frame.

I didn’t get what you meant about the “psychic” part at first… then I watched the nine-second vid.
*slow golf clap*
That being said, it’s nice to know Zakk Wylde is branching outside of music for a chance.
I watched the 9 second video first and thought it was the weakest teaser trailer of all time. Did it even have audio?
I think one Garnett Lee described the main character as Dog the Bounty Hunter, which is an accurate statement. The shades are especially Dog.
Yeah that was indeed a fairly pointless teaser.
And to be Dog, he’d need less beard, more mullet and gratuitous Native American accessories.
Hmmm. The character in the picture remind of Army Special Forces, most notably Green Beret. They’re common in areas where conventional warfare is unfeasible and a larger force of locals can be trained by them. They have very unconventional looks that often mold to the locale they’re stationed in, in a better attempt to create amicable relations with warlords/insurgent leaders.
That being said I thank reason that it’s not going to be in WWII
This may be old news now but it appears that the person used in the image for this game may actually be a real soldier.
After this trailer and image were released Chris Plante from UGO uncovered some interesting photos from LIFE Magazine about a soldier in Afghaniastan named “Cowboy” that looks oddly familiar. Here’s a link to the article:
