I actually think people who aren't big CoD fans will find a lot to like in this game. It's short, engaging, and has a lot of cool action sequences that don't rely solely on shooting. My dad (a non-gamer, but a big fan of action movies, military books, History channel, etc.), expressed great interest in this game and I'm looking forward to playing it with him over Turkey break.

I already hate this game - but thats just cuz I had to work the release :P

I haven't actually played it yet, but I know theres been hella crazy going on about the damn airport scene - the head of Games Design at my uni was on the BBC "Question Time" - like a debate show? They were debating whether violence in games makes kids more violent - completely ignoring the age rating of the game - and within about 5mins had related gamers to nazis. Stupid.

But yeah, from what I've seen, heard about it, they aren't desensitising violence at all - much the opposite - making gamers open their eyes to it and sit up and actually notice what it going on - and engaging gamers emotionally like never before. CoD may not really be my kind of thing usually, but I'm definately looking at this as a kind of "this is a new way of doing things which works".

Also I hear it's hella fun ;P

I just started a playthrough, and got to the airport scene. I have to agree. It was beautifully done, without glorifying what was going on. Game designers can definitely take some cues from Infinity Ward, because I felt the exact way I believe they wanted you to feel. As soon as they opened fire, and you see the initial wave of civilians drop on the floor, my gut wrenched. And I'm someone who ENJOYS watching needless violence at times.
