Well, now that the rest of the October NPD Top 20 list is out, we can see why Brütal Legend didn’t make it into the top 10 – Eddie Riggs was seemingly unable to fight his way past the equally brutal Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 3. It all makes perfect sense now.

Yes, Atlus and From Software’s punishingly hard RPG was indeed perched high above the top of the bottom half of the October retail charts. Still, it’s nice to see that the 360 version of Tim Schafer’s epic metal adventure didn’t fall too far outside the top 10 either, even if the PlayStation version reportedly only moved 66k units. This makes the October total north of 200k, but still seemingly small for a game with the amount of promotion and hype behind it that Legend had. The PS3 version of Borderlands, whose 360 version made a rather impressive showing at number three, crawled as high as number 17; it only shifted a little more than a quarter of the total Xbox copies.

Keep in mind, NPD only reports the actual units sold for the top 10 titles; numbers 11 through 20 are not released to the public unless the publisher does so independently. Other numbers will be provided where available. Hit the jump for the full list and how it compared to last month.
