Rumor: Alan Wake Dropping Internationally in May

After five years of waiting for Remedy’s Xbox 360 action/horror/mystery game, Alan Wake, those of you who are getting a little impatient can take heart. UK site MCV has reportedly learned from “a source close to the game” that Microsoft is planning a worldwide release for Alan Wake in May.
The premise of the game follows Alan Wake, a suspense writer, who is visiting the rural town of Bright Falls, Washington, in hopes of getting over a case of writer’s block. Not long after arriving in Bright Falls, Alan’s wife goes missing and he starts finding pages of a book that he has no memory of writing. As he pieces the pages together the horror story they tell begins to come alive. Players must find the missing pages in order to save Alan’s wife and unravel the mystery behind Bright Falls.
Alan Wake was shown at both E3 and Tokyo Game Show this past summer and has been generating a lot of positive buzz among both gamers and the gaming press. Microsoft hopes to build off that buzz by promoting the game ”in the style of a Hollywood movie”, so expect to see a lot more of Alan Wake in the months leading up to its rumored May 2010 release.
