Party Time! Sony Bringing adhocParty to North American PSPs

Everybody grab your friends! There’s going to be an Ad Hoc party! No, wait; You don’t actually have to go grab your friends, I said “adhocParty“. It’s a new app for your PSP that will allow you to enjoy all your favorite PSP games that only feature Ad Hoc multiplayer modes through your PS3′s internet connection. It’s already been available in Japan for the past year and Sony will be bringing it to the North American PlayStation Store soon… for free!
That’s right, with adhocParty when you want to get your Monster Hunter on with some friends you don’t actually have to invite them over. No more hanging out in the food court at the mall, just hoping to catch a glimpse of somebody else playing Gran Turismo, or riding the bus every day because you know there’s a kid that sometimes plays Final Fantasy Dissidia on his way home from school.
Okay, so you probably haven’t been desperate enough to try those last two examples (me either, honest!), but adhocParty does promise to make the life of any PSP/PS3 owner a little easier, as sometimes it can be quite a chore to get an Ad Hoc multiplayer session going. With adhocParty you just connect your PSP and PS3 via the Remote Play feature and play against your friends over the PlayStation Network.
Even better, adhocParty will allow use of a PS3 wireless headset and PlayStation Eye so you will still be able to smack talk your opponents like they were in the same room as you.

When this thing finally hits, there will be mandatory scheduling of Monster Hunter parties. This I have decreed. I want to enjoy that game, but it’s so ball-bustingly hard in single player.
This almost makes me want to buy a game like Monster Hunter just to take advantage of it.
I will teach you the ways of the Rathalos. ;)
