Capcom recently asked fans on their blogsite, Capcom-Unity, how they would like to see Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition released in Europe and North America; as downloadable content or on a disc. Well, the people have spoken and Alternative Edition is going to be DLC only. Good choice, people.

Alternative Edition will be adding support for Sony’s still-as-of-yet-unamed  motion controller on the PS3, as well as all-new content such as an new episode featuring the original power duo of survival horror; Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

Little is known about the Xbox 360 version of Alternative Edition, but it appears that Microsoft fans have not been totally forgotten; RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi  is quoted on the blog as saying that Capcom is “evaluating what they can do for 360 players as well.” In the past, it has been speculated that an Xbox 360 version would include the new content, minus the motion control support.

Either way, at least we won’t have to buy a brand new disc to play all that brand new content.
