I will admit, Shattered Horizon flew completely under my radar. How completely? How about “it comes out today” completely? Is that good enough for you? Granted, I’m still getting my feet back under me when it comes to PC gaming, having not owned a machine until recently that could play the average game released in the last year or so. Before that, my PC gaming experience was pretty much limited to anything Flash-based, pre-Warcraft 3 RTSes, the lowest-end MMOs and whatever PopCap churned out. I honestly wish I were kidding.

So, after having seen ads for this game popping up recently when loading Steam, I got curious yesterday when I saw there was media available. I did a little research and was pretty impressed with what I found.

Shattered Horizon takes place 40 years in the future, after a Lunar catastrophe has left near-Earth space littered with billions of tons of debris. I won’t bother going too deep into the world’s fiction; I really just wanted to mention the game’s main draw – FPS combat in full 360 degree zero-gravity. And I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look pretty cool.

Hit the jump for some screens and a trailer, showing gameplay in action.

I must admit, after Dead Space, hearing the words “360 Degrees” and “Zero-Gravity” make my stomach churn, but I can honestly say, this looks pretty interesting. I’m thinking of eventually hooking into Steam, just to try this and some other things out
