In what may be the strangest bit of cross-promotion to date, Sony announced today that the Blu-ray of District 9 will also contain the demo for God of War III.
The hybrid disc, a first for both Blu-ray and PlayStation, will treat those who finish the demo to a making-of featurette for the game. The Blu-ray, which comes out December 29th, will release almost a month after the God of War Collection, which will also feature the demo.
“The combination of District 9 and the game demo of God of War III is an unprecedented home entertainment offering,” said Lexine Wong, Senior Executive Vice President of SCEA. “We are thrilled to give consumers not only an incredible high definition presentation of District 9 and the wealth of bonus material about the movie, but also a taste of what is destined to be the biggest video game of 2010. This pairing of the movie and game demo is just another example of what is possible with the Blu-ray format.”
