September NPDs: Aion [insert wing-related joke here] to Top of PC Charts

aion_2009-06-12_16-52-07-65

Yeah, we just couldn’t really be bothered to try and dredge up something “witty” to go in the headline. Suffice it to say, it must be a slow season in Azeroth, as NC Soft’s Korean MMO import, Aion: The Tower of Eternity, ended up in the number one spot on September’s PC NPD retail charts.

The question is, will anyone really keep playing this in the long run or is it just another quick, winged fling before they come crawling back to their old, forgiving flame in WoW? If only real life spouses were this understanding in matters of infidelity. Maybe she’s just not that concerned because both the main game as well as both expansion packs are still in the top 15. Is there seriously still a person left on the planet with a computer and an internet connection that doesn’t own a copy of World of Warcraft and all its related content? Seriously?

The full top 20 is after the jump.

This is our first time covering the PC NPD charts, so forgive us for not having anything previous to compare it to – that should all be better come next month.

  1. I would just like to say that I do not own a copy of WoW, nor have I ever owned one. I don’t have an account either. Hell, I can honestly say that I’ve never even played the game. However, I may be the last person left alive who can say that. I have seen my fair share of friends slip into that world only to never return.
