In keeping with this year’s theme of ‘games getting delayed’, it seems that the Silent Hill remake will now be postponed as well. There has been no official announcement made yet for North America, but several retailers (who are quick to make these changes) have made edits to the release information for the game.

According to Kotaku, GameStop now says that the game will hit store shelves on December 8th, almost a full month after its original release date of November 3rd. This means that, if the sources are to be believed, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will be missing Black Friday, which could potentially put a big dent in their sales.

Gamefly, meanwhile, says that the Wii version will be arriving on November 26th, while the PSP and PS2 versions will be coming in much later on December 31st. Wal-Mart’s website has the same date listed for the Wii version as Gamefly, but lists the PSP and PS2 versions as arriving on Christmas day (despite there being no mail that day).

Finally, CVG is reporting that they spoke with Konami themselves, who said that the game will be released in Europe in February 2010. ”It’s out in Feb, but has never been officially confirmed as anything else. A few retail sites put a loose November date on it, but we never officially gave it a date until recently,” said the representative for Konami.

Perhaps this is all a ploy by Konami, to keep the games release date as mysterious as the game’s namesake.
