pspgo_black_-gamestore.jpg*COUGH!* Wow, there sure is a lot of dust in here!

We haven’t done a new poll in quite a little while now, but it’s the start of a new month so this seems like a good place to get it going again. After all, what better time to resurrect Crush! Vote! Destroy!’s stinking corpse than October, eh?

PSPgo just launched a couple of days back and regardless of if you’re a Sony fan or not, it’s hard not to agree that some severe missteps were made during its marketing and release. This question isn’t designed to incite fanboy rage – rather, we just want to gauge the public’s perception on the release of the system.

What we want to know from you is: “What is the biggest mistake Sony made with the PSPgo?”

For those new here (or if you’ve just forgotten because it’s been so long since we’ve done a new one), you can find the polls at the bottom of the rightmost sidebar. We’ll be keeping this one open for two weeks – voting closes at midnight Eastern/9pm Pacific on Saturday, October 17th. Hopefully we should have a new one up next week and before long we’ll be back in the regular swing of things.

But enough talking… GO VOTE!

I don’t think it’s the biggest mistake Sony has made, just another narcissistic one.

They price their products like they have no competition what so ever, and admit regularly that they do so cause they they think they can. The PSPgo is a great idea, and one the market has been asking for, but the price, and no option of transferring your already purchased UMD based games is the big mistake that Sony is really making.

  2. I don’t really agree with the term “too expensive”. Wasn’t the original PSP $250 when it launched?

My biggest issue with the thing is the lack of support for PSP owners looking to upgrade. No UMD transfer, coupled with most of their digital downloads for these games being far too costly, seems like an incredibly bad move that will (hopefully) come back and bite Sony in the rear.

  3. It also launched almost 5 years ago (December 2004 in Japan) – that’s a hell of a high price to keep on a system who’s only benefit at the moment is size. Considering they’re pricing it versus the iPhone and iPod Touch, both of which can do a hell of a lot more than the PSPgo? I’m still standing by the “too expensive” statement. With the core PSP currently at $169, I wouldn’t have even felt $200 was too much, but $249 is just insulting.

And despite that, I was almost willing to bite the bullet on the price and upgrade, but the announcement of them scrapping the UMD transfer just killed that idea totally. Bad, bad moves all around.

  4. Bad moves seem to be Sony’s MO as of late, huh?

But you know, factoring in inflation and the like, $250 today is actually cheaper than $250 five years ago. :P ;)
