Audiosurf is $4.99 This Weekend on Steam

Steam’s Weekend Deal this time around is the excellent Audiosurf. For those who may not be familiar with it, Audiosurf is a puzzle/rhythm game hybrid that creates levels based on the mp3 library that you already have sitting on your computer. The game analyzes and generates the track based on the dynamics of the song you’ve chosen and you guide your WipeOut-style hovercraft along, picking up colored blocks to make combos.

The game was already a steal at $10, but for this weekend you can pick it up for half that. If you love music and are looking to experience yours in a different way, you shouldn’t even still be reading this. There’s a demo too for those fence-sitters out there who may still be unsure.

This might run on my netbook. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll have to check out the demo and see if it works before I buy it.

You and this netbook of yours! Always messing everything up! ;P

I do have a question though – has the site been more friendly since we changed the layout again? If I’m not mistaken, it shouldn’t blow out in 1024 any longer, which if I’m not wrong is as high as netbooks can go, resolution-wise.

I can’t recommend the game enough – especially when it’s this cheap.

  4. I haven’t played this in a lonnnnnnng ass time, but your post reminded me to do so! It’s always fun to come back to Audiosurf after you’ve been listening to new music for a few months, it’s like a who new game! ^_^

To answer your question, yes the site fits a lot nicer on my netbook now. =D 1024×600 is the top resolution that came stock with my netbook. You can get programs that push it higher if necessary though.

Good – I’m glad to hear it. Makes me feel a little bit better about things. I honestly didn’t know such a large segment of the populace still used lower resolutions. I didn’t even know what the max on a netbook was until this issue came up, but I know they’re increasing a lot in usage so it’s something I need to take into account.
