Okay, So Maybe PSP Minis Won’t Be Gimped After All…

So it seems that what Gamasutra learned last week at GDC Austin regarding PSP’s downloadable Mini titles being sans multiplayer, updates and more may not be entirely true. According to Destructoid’s Ben PerLee, it looks like the lack of features could just be endemic to the first wave of Minis releases.
Speaking with Eric Lempel, PlayStation Network’s Director of Network Operations and Strategic Planning, at last week’s PSPgo launch event, PerLee got a bit more information on the issue:
“So you can patch Minis,” said Lempel, “but we won’t have multiplayer functions in the beginning. Basically, to get these developers on board, and to make it easier to test and get it through the pipeline, we won’t be allowing that functionality for the first stage of Minis.”
Looks like the streamlining of approval that was mentioned mostly applies to getting the first batches of games out of the gate and onto the flash memory of waiting consumers. This leaves the idea of future titles being update and multiplayer capable still on the table, with Lempel adding “It’s something we will consider in the future.”
