Atlus announced today that there will be a small snafu with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona‘s PSP release. While the boxed, UMD copy will be released without a hitch, the digital copy on PSN will not be available to download until October 1st.

Both versions were originally going to be released simultaneously. No reason was given for the delay.

It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts the sales of Persona. The retail copy, which comes with an added 2-disc soundtrack for no extra cost, already has a leg up on the digital version when it comes to content. Now it has an advantage with the release date as well. Will people be willing to forgo the soundtrack and wait for the digital copy? Only time will tell.

The retail version of SMT: Persona releases for the PSP on September 22nd.

  1. I preordered a copy the instant it was available to do so…so this won’t bother me at all. I like how Atlus has been giving me soundtracks with so many games – and for no additional cost!

Can’t wait to play this one!

  2. Yeah I’ve been procrastinating on grabbing this one myself. But there’s always much love for Atlus’ special edition packs. I have yet to open my copy of Devil Summoner 2 because the little Raiho will look so lonely in there without the game next to him. :/

  3. My little Raiho is living on top of one of my bookcases with a Chimchar the same size as him…they’re good pals!
