Perhaps Dean Dodrill was on to something when he designed his game, Dust: An Elysian Tail, with a fox protagonist. With cunning only a vulpine could muster, the game took first place in the XNA Dream-Build-Play contest. The title also comes with nice prize of $40,000, which will beat a bunch of grapes any day.

For those of you who haven’t heard, Dust: An Elysian Tail is a gorgeous, hand-drawn sidescroller. Think if Odin Sphere went to a furry convention. Yup, that’s right, all the game’s characters are furries. Take a look for yourself.

Taking second place was Max Blastronaut by Panya Inversin of Coin App (seen in the video below), third going to Rotor’scope by Mauricio Garcia, and HurricaneX2 Evolution by Hu Ling taking fourth.
