Both Joystiq and Kotaku are reporting that Best Buy has come up with a plan to prevent customers from returning their newly-purchased PlayStation 3 systems in exchange for a PS3 Slim. A memo sent out to employees at the entertainment giant stated that if a customer returned with an original PS3 and asked to exchange it for the new Slim, that employees should attempt to dissuade them… by offering a free game. Customers are being offered a copy of inFamous, Killzone 2, or MLB 09 The Show in exchange for them keeping their larger console.
The internal memo goes on to state that there is no official street date for the PS3 Slim, so keep your eyes peeled for the consoles to be showing up on Best Buy shelves soon.
If you were (un)fortunate enough to purchase a PlayStation 3 recently and want to attempt to exchange it, please be aware that this isn’t a sale, but simply a memo to employees. It may be up to store managers to determine how often the deal is offered, if at all.

PS3 Slim is available now, i personally sold 3 of them today. :) i personally dont like them. They look like giant lunch boxes :(
I think I’d just “pretend” to take one back, get my free game, then buy my Slim at another outlet~ That’s not TOO sneaky, right? ;)
