all-games-gold-box-082809-_v232823667_Some of the more observant among you may have noticed the ubiquitous Amazon.com ads in our sidebar. For those of you who may be new to the site, allow me to get you up to speed. Yes, we do have an affiliate partnership with Amazon and anything you order after entering their site via our banner, CFD! makes a small commission on which helps us keep the site running. It doesn’t have to be the video games specifically featured there – if you pick up a new Kindle, a case of diapers or a chainsaw, it all helps out.

Well, this Friday, August 28th, sees Amazon firing up another of its Gold Box events and this one is all video game themed. Not sure how it works? Hit the jump and we’ll explain.

Basically, the deal works like this:

  • At 12:01am Pacific/3:01am Eastern, the Gold Box Deal of the Day will go up. This deal will be available for the entire day, or until stocks on the item run out.
  • Beginning at 6:00am Pacific/9:00am Eastern, the first Lightning Deal will be posted. Lightning Deals are only available for a limited window of time or until supplies run out.
  • Periodically throughout the day, new Lightning Deals will be revealed, each with a similar limited window of opportunity.

CFD! will be on point for this, delivering updates to you as each new deal goes live. We will keep this post stickied at the top of the front page for the duration of the sale so that you don’t have to go hunting for it. Also, if you don’t follow our Twitter feed already, now might be a good time to do so, because we’ll be bringing each sale to you there as well.

Do keep in mind that all the offers are limited in time and stock on hand, so if you see something you’ve been wanting, I’d advise you not to mull the issue for too long. Besides, it’ll help us stay around so we can keep bringing you content, doing more prize giveaways and other fun stuff.

  1. Oh man, sounds like it might be time to check my account and make sure I’ve got some money ready to spend. =D Here’s to hoping for a sweet deal and helping out CFD!

  2. Strangely enough I have never purchased from Amazon! With this deal I might have to make my very first one!

Judging from the clues I’d say the rest of deals will be:

11am Pacific/2pm Eastern: most likely a version of Madden

2pm Pacific/5pm Eastern: Definitely EA Active

5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern: some kind of Wii skiing game

8pm Pacific/11pm Eastern: maybe another version of Madden? or maybe NCAA?

Nothing too enticing so far. The $75 THQ Collector pack up on Steam looks better than most of these deals.

  5. All the games were for the 360 or Wii, which I don’t play too often. That stunk :(

  6. Well, my wallet was spared on this day. None of these deals were very great, and cppcrusader must have the inside track on Amazon or some really good ESP. Those guesses (and I use that term loosely) were spot on.
