Konami has released new details on Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, more specifically on its psychological profiling aspect. The game starts with you meeting with a psychiatrist, who asks you a series of questions in order to build the general framework of the story. However, it doesn’t stop there.

Aspects from how you interact with people to how you move around in the story, be it quickly or with caution, will influence how characters react to you and how much assistance they provide to you. For example, if you are overly flirtatious, it may affect how the characters are dressed and how they act towards you. Not only does the system tap into your darkest fears, but it also allows for a one-of-a-kind experience for each person.

“From the very beginning, we planned to re-invent the horror-genre, getting deeper into the player’s minds and taking a new approach for videogames,” said Tomm Hulett, the Producer of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. “The development team took a long time studying all kinds of psychological elements, and created a unique system to monitor all player actions – even small things like how long an object is looked at. The result is a diverse experience, which adjusts itself all the way through the game and creates a story-driven experience like never before in any video game.”

Shattered Memories will be coming to Wii this winter with a new, innovative control scheme or, for those of you who aren’t too keen on wagglin’ your way through the town of Silent Hill, it’ll be coming to PSP and Playstation 2 as well. And to give you an idea, here are some Wii and PSP screenshots, showing how certain aspects will differ between players.
