Uncharted 2 – No Single Player Demo Coming

Two years ago, Naughty Dog dropped a single player demo for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune to get people talking about their new IP and it worked, with Uncharted being one of the best reviewed and received games on the PS3.  Now, with the highly anticipated sequel a scant two months away from being released, Naughty Dog has announced that a single player demo is not in the works.

Amy Hennig, the games creative director, stated in an interview with 1UP.com that “It’s always tough to do a single player demo. You can always argue whether it benefits you or not in the long run, because so much of it depends on you understanding where you are in the narrative, and then appreciating what’s going on in the single-player demo.”

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells commented on the challenges of cramming hours of gameplay into a 15 minute demo: “I mean, we have something like hundreds of moves to train you over several hours, and if you just drop somebody into the fire…”

Fans of the Uncharted series can put their fears to rest though, as Naughty Dog confirmed that the single player experience is coming along nicely and that it will be significantly longer than the first title.

If you simply cannot wait to get your hands on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Naughty Dog will be releasing a multiplayer demo on September 15th.
