Today Valve announced Team Fortress 2‘s first Classless Update, which promises to bring something even better than a normal class update to the board: hats! That’s right, 18 totally awesome hats that will be available for your collecting, including a cowboy hat, Viking helmet, and a bowler. No word yet on how the hats will be unlocked and if they are class specific (we hope not!).

And if that weren’t enough, they’re introducing a new map as well. Entitled “Offblast”, the arena-style map takes place at a missile silo set in a mountain. The setting offers lots of open-air paths that converge on a central point beneath the silo’s blast doors. The best part about it? Give your opponents a lesson in common sense by blasting them off the edge of the map’s many cliffs to send them to an unrespawnable grave. That’ll teach ‘em.
